As we all know, Madonna is famous for pissing off religious groups.
But how and why? Well, that's exactly what I'm going to figure out.
Kabbalah is Madonna's latest religion. It is an ancient form of Judasim. Kabbalah literally
means a "receiving", in the sense of a "received tradition". Madonna made the religion the ultimate celebrity fad in 2004
with her Kabbalah inspired children's books and wearing the ever popular red-string bracelet; a bracelet meant to ward off
the evil eye and negative energy.
The term "Kabbalah" was originally used in Talmudic texts, among the Geonim (early medieval
rabbis) and by Rishonim (later medieval rabbis) as a reference to the full body of the oral tradition of Jewish teaching,
which was publicly available. Even the works of the Tanakah's prophets were referred to as Kabbalah, before they were canonized
as part of the written tradition. In this sense Kabbalah was used in referring to all of Judaism's oral law. Over time, much
of the oral law was recorded, but the esoteric teachings remained an oral tradition. Now, even though the esoteric teachings
of the Torah are recorded, it is still known as Kabbalah.
Though Madonna has received alot of positive feedback from Kabbalhist's because of her devotion
to the religion, it's main source, Judaism, isn't always as pleased with her. Madonna has used various sacred Hebrew symbols
in her music videos, in situations that Jews see as dark and negative.
Judaism is the religion of the Jewish people. It is one of the first recorded monotheistic
faiths, and it is one of the oldest religious traditions still practiced today. The values and history of the Jewish people
are a major part of the foundation of other Abrahamic religions such as Christianity, Islam, as well as Samaritanism and the
Christianity is a monotheistic religion centered on Jesus and on his life and
teachings as presented in the New Testament. Christians believe Jesus to be the messiah and thus refer to him as Jesus Christ.
With an estimated 2.1 billion adherents in 2001, Christianity is the world's largest religion. Which means Madonna had the
largest amount of people to upset when she put burning crosses and black Christ-figures in her Like a Prayer music
That's not the only reason Christian's aren't big Madonna fans. From releasing a sex book to
abandoning her Catholic upbringing completely, to releasing sexuality explicit songs, Christian's are needless to say not
big Madonna lovers. In fact, during her 'Like a Virgin' tour in the 1980's, the vatican attempted to ban her from performing
